Who can apply?

Anybody, who believes that his or her singing technique and acting skills qualify for the competition.

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit.

Will the registration fee be refunded if I cannot go to the audition?

NO, but you can go and participate at any of the other locations where the first round has not taken place yet.

First round

Where can I participate in the first round?

Budapest (Hungary) March 30- April 1, 2010

Moscow (Russia): April 5-6, 2010

Paris (France) April 12-14, 2010

New York (USA): April 19-21, 2010

Bergen (Norway) April 23-25, 2010   

Can I apply at all five locations to have a greater chance to get into the second round as opposed to those who only apply at one location?

Yes!

What do I have to prepare for the first round?

Two opera arias of your choice.

Can I sing with the music score?

No, you have to sing the arias from memory.

Second Round

Is there a registration fee for the second round?

No.

Travel allowances provided by Opera Competition for the second round:

         - An allowance of 550 USD (maximum) for competitors coming from outside Europe.

         - An allowance of 150 EURO (maximum) for competitors coming from outside Hungary.

Can I sing the same two arias I sang in the first round?

No.

Can I sing with the music scores?

No, you have to sing the arias from memory.

What will the jury judge in the second round?

The jury will primarily focus on the acting skills in the second round.

Finals

When will the finals take place?

November 3-17, 2010

Where will the Finals take place?

At the Szeged National Theatre (Szeged, Hungary)

Will performances also compete in the finals or only performers?

Performances will compete for the audience’s award.
